Kiwanis International recently celebrated its 90th anniversary and BankFive’s own Mary Costa was honored with the George F. Hixson Fellowship Award. Mary has been a Kiwanis member for 20 years. This award is the highest honor that Kiwanis can bestow upon one of its members. The purpose of the award is to honor the first president of Kiwanis International, George F. Hixso, and to establish an endowment fund. The Fall River Club has not made this award since 2004, so it’s quite special and not given out casually.
The following is an excerpt from the presentation remarks, “From the moment Mary joined the club, she became a very active member, participating in all club activities and special events, offering her time and talent to the club’s projects and activities. She willingly became the Assistant Treasurer of the club, serving under her sponsor, the late Bob Mullen. When Bob retired from his position as Treasurer several years ago, she readily accepted the position. Her excellent financial background, loyalty to the club, and of course her good humor made it a very easy vote of the Board of Directors to recognize Mary as the recipient of the George F. Hixson Fellowship Award.”
Mary has been a BankFive employee for over 35 years and is First Vice President in the Retail Division. It is an honor for BankFive to have not only a dedicated employee, but dedicated to helping the community and making a difference. This award truly shows Mary’s dedication has made a difference in the lives of others.
