New Bedford Memorial Day Parade: Forms at 11 a.m. and steps off at 11:30 a.m. from Parker Street and Hathaway Boulevard. Parade will head east on Parker Street to County, then north on County to Pope and east on Pope into Clasky Common Park where the reviewing stand is located. BankFive will present the newly purchased “Hero Van” to the Southeastern Massachusetts Veterans Housing Program, Inc., better known locally as the Veterans Transition House (VTH) at the conclusion of the parade, roughly between 12 and 1 p.m. The van was purchased after a successful fundraising program managed by BankFive in which $13,000 was donated by local businesses and residents, and the Bank matched donations dollar-for-dollar to bring the total to $26,000.
Swansea Memorial Day ceremonies will begin with the tribute to veterans at Town Hall beginning at 10 a.m. That will be followed by a trip to Case High School where the wall of honor will be displayed with the names of those who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, at 11:15 a.m. The parade will assemble at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Gardners Neck Road and is scheduled to step off at 1 p.m. Look for BankFive employees and Nickels who will be walking in the parade!
