Go Green to Save Green

Saving energy saves money. Up to 85 percent of the energy used to machine-wash clothes is spent heating the water, so wash your clothes in cold water. A few degrees can make a big difference to your heating and cooling costs, so set your thermostat a little lower in the winter and a little higher in the summer.

Next, drink responsibly. Using a re-usable coffee filter pays for itself in no time and saves paper. Bottled water is expensive and creates a lot of container waste, while a filter purifies tap water and a reusable water bottle gives you water on the go.

Finally, forget paper or plastic. Take reusable cloth bags when you go shopping. Some grocery stores will even discount your purchase if you’ve got a reusable bag. Small changes can make a big difference, and money saved makes it worth it.
